Synopsis

Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in all parts of the globe and novel approaches to treatment are sought after with respect to safety, innovation and integrations. The fast development of nanotechnology has also contributed to the revolution in the delivery of cardio-protective nutraceuticals that improve their solubility, stability, bioavailability, and functioning at the specific sites. Simultaneously, naturopathic methods, including herbal preparations, dietary optimization, and lifestyle measures, have full advantages as they reduce oxidative stress, suppress inflammation, enhance endothelial activity, and restore metabolic balance. This chapter focuses on the synergistic potential of nanotechnology-based delivery systems and naturopathic therapies in improving the outcomes of cardiovascular therapy. It mentions several types of nanocarriers such as liposomes, phytosomes, nanoemulsions and polymeric nanoparticles that have been used to enhance the delivery of plant-based antioxidants, flavonoids, polyphenols and other bioactive compounds traditionally used in natural medicine. Mechanistic viewpoints are given to describe the mechanisms by which these integrative mechanisms regulate molecular targets involved in atherosclerosis, hypertension, and myocardial damage. In addition, the chapter discusses preclinical results, translation opportunities, and safety profiles, and tackles major issues including the complexity of formulations, scalability of production, and regulatory standardization. Through the integration of modern nanoscience and evidence-based approaches to naturopathy, nano-integrative therapeutics is a prospective model of sustainable and personalized cardiovascular care.
