Synopsis

The emergence of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) promises updates to the functionalities of large-scale manufacturing facilities. Herein, changes in equipment, transport, and communication capabilities will give rise to further automation and self-organization of the respective production processes and flows. Benefits will be found in high-level equipment and transport, as well as the connection to higher-level systems. Together with the integration of logistics and production, these developments will deliver greater responsiveness and efficiency to these facilities.
